What is our reality? To what end do we strive for? We raise our children with all the luxury, education and opportunities our fathers never had. So why would our children then turn on us? Have we given them the love of Allah and his Rasool?
Imam Jouhar in this lecture helps us understand how striving for the worldly life with no concern for the hereafter will have an effect on us and our families.
Quotes from the lecture:
“...because the capitalistic society is designed to think all about me”.
“What’s written for you can’t miss you, what’s written to miss you can’t hit you”.
To know what Allah can provide for us, we need to understand what he wants from us first.
Allah says in the Holy Quran in sura Al-Mu'minoon
"Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?"
So Exalted is Allâh, the True King: Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Lord of the Supreme Throne!
And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allâh, any other ilâh (god), of whom he has no proof; then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kâfirûn (the disbelievers in Allâh and in the Oneness of Allâh, polytheists, pagans, idolaters) will not be successful.
And say (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) "My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!"
In this lecture brother Shakiel Humayun looks objectively at the Identity of Jesus Christ. "Why isn't their great debate, discussion and controversy over the identity of Noah or Abraham or Moses..."
This lecture was held in Brooklyn, NY on New Year's eve of the Gregorian calendar. The Imam revels the Shirk and Kufur evident in the gregorian calendar and advises us to "shy away" from it. The Imam also touches on the topic of non-muslim celebrations and rulings.
